Meet Sam, a five-year-old boy who has a brain tumor and after so many treatments the doctor has finally said to his parents to just take him home to be with his family.
Sam is one unique child. Although he knows he is sick, he doesn't know how grave it is and with his young mind, he is unaware that anytime his life here on earth is about to finish.
His family showers him with total care and full attention and he gets a lot of visitors every day from other members of the family, relatives, his playmates from the neighborhood, and his parents' friends and co-workers.
In a way, he is loving all the attention and all the visits from them. They encourage him, tell him stories to make him laugh and he is very much receptive to all those gestures.
They are all complimenting on how he looks so well and saying to him that pretty soon he will be able to go out again and play with his playmates and go to school as well.
He likes all of that and that is why he is so joyful and always has a good spirit when they are around and even so proud of himself for being so well and not sick anymore.
They told him that he was so well and he could be a Superman and just go from place to place and play with his friends in the neighborhood again. And he was so delighted to hear that and he actually said, "Yes, I am Sam, the Superman. I am not sick anymore and I can play again and go to school."
Meet Ashley, a seven-year-old girl who cares more than anything else about her little brother, Sam. She stays with her brother as much as she can and plays games with him, reads books to him, and sometimes even feeds him.
She is very much protective of him and when someone would come to visit her little brother she would be there to continue watching him.
One day, all of a sudden, she told her little brother to wait for her and she just had an idea and she would be back. And so she left him.
She went into their backyard and pick some lemons from their tree. She went into the kitchen, washed those lemons, and made a pitcher of lemonade.
When her mother saw her and asked her what she was doing, she replied, "I am making lemonade and I am selling this lemonade to anybody who comes here to visit Sam."
And so she did. Amazingly enough, everyone who came to visit Sam would buy a cup or two of the lemonade and Ashley was so excited as she was earning money selling the lemonade. She was now making a profit.
When she had the money, she would ask her Mom to let her come to the store with her so she could buy something for her brother Sam.
Sometimes it would be a little toy or a book or a little snack that he would like to eat. She made sure that she would sell more lemonade to have more money so she could buy something for her little brother.
What about you? What are you doing with your lemon?
Do you step on it and kick it out? Do you pick it and cut it up and squeeze it and when it is too sour you just throw it out? Or do you stumped on it and left it there wherever you found it?
What do you do with your lemon?
In life, it is not always roses. Even the rose has thorns but if you will focus on the thorns you will never smell the roses.
When you are climbing up the mountain and you have a long way to go and it is too steep and slippery, do you just stop and go back where you came from, or do you just prod along until you reached the top?
When everything around you is not going your way and you have only had yourself to depend on, do you just go to your room and moan and groan and complain about everything that is not going right with your life?
Why don't you go left then?
When you think you are left alone and nobody cares about what you are going through, do you throw the towel and just say, "This is it. I cannot continue anymore."
Remember Ashley? She made lemonade out of the lemon. She did it for her love for her brother, Sam.
My friend, you are created here for a purpose and not just to exist. It is up to you to create your own life to not just survive. You are not even here to just live but to thrive and it is up to you to make it a reality.
You are the best creation ever existed on this earth and your life is such a miracle that you are still here reading this post. This is not a coincidence as there is no such thing as coincidence.
What do you do with your lemon is up to you. Make your life counts not only for you but for the whole community, the whole nation where you are, and for the whole world.
You must decide to be creative, not wait to be. You must challenge yourself. You must be the inspiration, propose the solution and become the answer.
This planet needs more people like you, purpose-driven, goal-oriented, and someone who really cares otherwise you would not be here with us and even reading this blog.
Your only obstacle now is your own mind.
So, what do you do with your lemon?
Please do share your comments with us. Thank you so much.
