Every time we have someone passed away we always have a little farewell message like this. "May you rest in peace"
I am sure you also said that same goodbye message to those around you, be it family members, relatives, friends, co-workers, or neighbors and if you are like me, I do say it even to a complete stranger when I see a funeral anywhere around. me or heard of someone who just passed away.
Why is it that we do have that quick send-off to someone who is no longer here? "May you rest in peace". Sometimes you heard it during the funeral service, or you posted it on social media platforms or even left a card to the family with those words written on it.
Also, I do add another word to it, and goes like this: "May you rest in eternal peace."
Yes, Eternal Peace.
I think it is just a common habit or a normal way of maybe respecting the person? Or probably it is so natural to just utter those words or perhaps some really do care about the person who had passed away.
Having said this, why do we have to rest in peace or rest in eternal peace only?
Why can't we also live in peace or live in eternal peace? Don't you think it is also possible to do that and not just when we are already gone from this world?
And how do we know that the person who is gone is really receiving that message? Well, unless somewhere out there is listening to you and relaying the same message to the person concerned. As you know, the soul never dies.
Surely, while we are alive and breathing we can also work toward living in peace. There is really nothing hard about it and we all can accomplish that simple way of living in eternal peace.
How? By being aware of others and being more conscientious of other human beings and not only being concerned about your own self.
Be more sensitive about their situations, what they are going through, and their ardent needs, and always think about what you can do to help them for their own highest good.
No need to complain, condemn, criticize or prejudge because everyone goes through something and you never know when you would be able to have the opportunity to give yourself to help them out, especially in their dire needs.
Furthermore, it might be the last time you'll get a chance to render sincere service and complete caring to any one of them. It's either you might be gone before them or they might be gone before you and then regret it after because you missed that opportunity to help them out.
Yes, let's not just rest in peace nor rest in eternal peace.
Let us all strive to live in peace.
Let us all do our part to live in peace with harmony
Let us all encourage mankind to live in peace with unity.
Let us all give ourselves and others a chance to live in peace with love.
And most of all, let us all live for the sake of living eternal peace with harmony, unity, and love for all our own highest good and the good of all mankind.
PEACE BE WITH YOU ALWAYS AND MAY YOU LIVE IN ETERNAL PEACE!
