The tongue is a small part of the body but it can boast great things. Consider what a great forest is set on fire by a small spark. The tongue also is a fire, a world of discomfort among the parts of the body.
It corrupts the whole person, sets the whole course of his life on fire, and is itself set on fire sometimes non-stop and unable to diminish.
All kinds of animals, birds, reptiles, and creatures of the sea are being tamed and been tamed by man. But no man can tame the tongue. It is a restless part of the body, full of deadly poison.
There is an old African legend about a chief who had to test the wisdom of a young man he had chosen as his successor.
So he devised a strange test. He called the young man and said to him. "Prepare me two meals. One with the best ingredients available, and one with the worst.": And so the young man did.
The day came and the chief was served a plate of succulent sliced cow tongues with vegetables. It was excellent and after the meal, the chief asked the young man why he chose to prepare the tongue.
He replied. "The tongue is one of our best parts. It can speak words of truth, bring healing, comfort, give courage, and strengthen another person's integrity. It can speak of love, harmony, and actually, hold our village together."
The chief was impressed. He waited eagerly for the next meal. On the day it was to be served, the young man came into the hut, and handed the chief a plate full of the exact same food.
He ate it, then asked the young man. "Why did you fix the same meal?" Without hesitation, the young man said, "It's true that the tongue can be the best part of us, but it can also be the worst.:
"The tongue can rip people apart by saying words of anger and discouragement. It can spread lies, deceit, slander, and it has the power to destroy our families and our tribe."
The old chief sat and thought. He nodded his head. He was now convinced he had made the right choice. He had chosen a wise man.
Most people do not realize the power of their tongues. It might be a small part of the body but it can truly either lift you up or pull you down. It can encourage you or totally lose your zest for life. It can build you up or it can tear you down faster than the strange bullet.
The tongue can be very productive in all ways but it can be quite destructive in just a few seconds.
So many couples parted their own ways because of malicious words uttered by each one of them.
Family ties are broken because of a lack of decent words of understanding and harmony.
Friendships are lost because of accusations and too many assumptions of each other's actions.
Working relationships collapsed because of words of dishonesty, envy, jealousy, and suspicions.
Business contracts lost because of barriers in communications with no solid grounds.
Gossips wreak havoc on neighborhood bonding.
Everywhere you are you will be surrounded by people who do nothing but complain, criticize, condemn, and compare their present situations to something or someone worst than they are.
Why can't we all come together and just express words of encouragement, inspiration, and motivation?
Practice that and from now on only good things can come out of your mouth and refrain from judging people no matter who they are and stop being so righteous about everything.
Once you utter those damaging words, you can never take them back and so be very careful when you open your mouth. Think twice before you do.
There you are, my WA Family, a simple post to ponder upon, and thank you so much for your precious time reading my blog post.
I hope this little post brings awareness of the importance of that small part of the body and yet so powerful that it can either create a king or a queen in a palace or a beggar in a dumpster.,
HAVE AN AMAZING DAY OR NIGHT FILLED WITH JOY, PEACE, LOVE, AND UNLIMITED ABUNDANCE.
God bless you all.
I love you all dearly.
Elizabeth
